Sources & import
- Drag-and-drop local filesDrop one or many audio files anywhere on the playlist area to import them. The whole window highlights while a drop is in flight.
- Pick files with the file dialogThe footer has a music-note button that opens a native file picker. Multi-select is supported.
- YouTube URLs and chapter tracklistsPaste a single YouTube URL, or paste a URL plus a list of timestamps (0:00 Title / 1 Title 0:00) and SoniqBoom will create one track per chapter.
- SoundCloud tracks and setsPaste a single track URL or a /sets/ playlist URL. The full set is fetched via the SoundCloud /resolve endpoint and turned into individual tracks.
- Google Drive files and foldersPaste a drive.google.com file URL or a folder URL. Folder contents are listed and added in one go.
- Recent importsEach source remembers your last 10 URLs, with the title pulled at import time. Click to repopulate the input, ✕ to forget.
Playback
- Play / pause / stopStandard transport controls. Stop resets position to the start; pause keeps position so you can resume where you left off.
- Previous / next trackSkips inside the active playlist, wrapping at the ends.
- Seekable progress barClick anywhere on the progress bar to jump. The bar also shows the elapsed and remaining time.
- Volume slider + mute toggleVolume is persisted across sessions. Mute toggles with the speaker button next to the slider.
- Section playbackChapter-style tracks (e.g. "01 Track Name 0:00" parsed from a YouTube tracklist) play only between the supplied start and end times, then auto-advance.
Playlist management
- Multiple playlistsOpen as many playlists as you like in tabs along the bottom. Drag tracks between them, rename, or delete.
- Multi-select with Shift and Ctrl/CmdShift-click selects a contiguous range, Ctrl/Cmd-click toggles individual items. Right-click for Move / Copy actions.
- Drag to reorderGrab a track by its row and drop it higher or lower in the same playlist.
- Search across all tracksPress Ctrl/Cmd-F or click the magnifying glass to open a search popover. Matches in playlist names and track names are highlighted; double-click a result to play it.
- Per-track rename and editRight-click a track to rename it or clear a stored waveform, useful when an auto-detected title is wrong.
Visualization & sound
- Live spectrum analyzerWeb Audio API AnalyserNode feeds 64 frequency bars that animate to whatever is playing.
- Per-track waveformsLocal files get a peak-PNG waveform drawn into the progress bar as soon as the audio is decoded.
- Retro cover-art scenesYouTube and SoundCloud tracks show a stylized scene (synthwave for SoundCloud, varied for YouTube) when their embed is hidden — keeps the player visually alive even with the iframe off.
Persistence & portability
- Survives reloadsPlaylists, tabs, accent color, volume, mute, and recent imports are all written to localStorage. Local audio blobs are stored in IndexedDB.
- .amp export / importExport any combination of playlists to a .amp file and reimport on another machine. Streaming-source tracks come back fully playable; local files are skipped (they live in the original browser).
- Smart deduplication on importIf the imported file contains a playlist that already matches one you have (by source ID and chapter range), the picker marks it as duplicate so you don't end up with two copies.
Customization
- Pick an accent colorThe colored swatch in the bottom-right cycles through 9 presets and tints the interactive highlights throughout the app.
- Toggle tracklist source iconsShow or hide the small YouTube / Drive / SoundCloud / local icon next to each track in the playlist.
- YouTube chrome visibilityBy default SoniqBoom crops the YouTube logo, title, and control bar out of the embed (300%-window trick). Untick the option in Settings to show the standard YouTube chrome for embed-TOS compliance.
- Reset everythingThe ⚙ panel has a Reset button that clears localStorage and IndexedDB and reloads the page, giving you a clean slate.

Mobile & devices
SoniqBoom runs on phones and tablets, but mobile browsers are stricter about background playback, auto-advance, and screen wake-lock than desktop ones are. What works, what doesn't, and what's being improved is covered in detail on the Audio types page under “Mobile & devices”.
